El Camino
El Camino Collection was born this past Spanish Spring while I did el Camino de Santiago, the best journey I could have ever wished for (apart from a trip home to Australia of course!). The Camino forces you to simplify life, there is nothing more therapeutic than having a small backpack of things to throw on in the morning and start walking with no other goal for the day other than to live and enjoy. It makes you realise that it’s not the destination that’s important but to live every moment, to relish the marvels of nature and the company and the solitude you have along the way. Halfway through our journey I discovered this popular poem by Antonio Machado which I think captures El Camino and life perfectly.
He says that a path is just your footprints, you create your own destiny by moving forward. When you look back at your journey, you see that it is like no other’s and can never be retraced. That your passage is like a wake trail from a boat, that disappears into the sea.
Wherever you forge your path, I wish you a Buen Camino and may your new Camino piece bring you good fortune and as much happiness as making these pieces brought me.
With love from Spain,
Annabelle xo
